Biography
Cyril Byron, Jr.
Associate CFO, Economic Development and Regulation Cluster

 

Cyril Byron, Jr. was named Associate CFO for the Economic Development and Regulation Cluster in March 2006. He oversees the annual budgets and manages the agency financial operations of the departments of consumer and regulatory affairs; employment services; housing and community development; and insurance, securities and banking.

 

Byron previously served as agency CFO/fiscal officer for the Department of Employment Services (DOES). Prior to his tenure at DOES, Byron was the CFO for the University of the District of Columbia, where he handled the day-to-day operations of the agency, including its procurement and facilities management.

 

He has also worked in the Office of Financial Operations and Systems, where he established the District’s first shared-service center and provided comprehensive financial services to 21 of the city’s smaller agencies; served as controller for the Office of Employee Appeals; worked for the DC Auditor; and held a number of positions with the Council of the District of Columbia.

 

Byron is a graduate of Howard University, Washington, DC, where he earned a master’s degree in public affairs and a bachelor’s in political science.
